Stress Awareness Month – Using tech to unwind

It’s too easy to blame technology for having a negative effect on wellbeing these days. For Stress Awareness month, we wanted to look at the tech that’s all about making people feel happy.

Sleep technology

Sleep is probably the most crucial thing to get right if you want to avoid stress – just one bad night’s sleep can easily set you up for a difficult week. So, to kick off, let’s take a look at the world of sleep tech.

Sleep gadgets were very popular at CES this year, and the event is considered to be one of the best showcases for sleep tech. The Evening Standard even predicts that 2019 is the year for sleep technology. Well, much of what we find these days in the realm of sleep tech consists of interesting gadgets, such as the Dream Sleep headband. This fairly pricey headband monitors brain activity, breathing, movement and heart rate to assess how well you are sleeping. There is also a whole line of sleep monitors that track sleep patterns to help you understand what kind of sleeper you are. If you think your stress levels can be improved through sleep, now is a great time to find out.

Mindfulness apps

Sitting on the commuter train meditating is quickly becoming the norm, but which apps are going to make you the most ‘zen’?

With an offering of over 100 goal-orientated meditations Calm . The app provides you with relaxing visuals and soundscapes of a fireplace order diazepam overnight delivery crackling and a waterfall running. Users of the app say it is worth every pound, it even offers you the chance to fall asleep with the soothing voice of Matthew McConaughey – what more could you want?

Ever find yourself wanting to sit and colour in for hours, but Amazon can’t deliver your pencils and colouring book till the next working day? Fear no more – Colourfy allows you to colour from the comfort of your phone or tablet. Boasting many different categories such as “cats” and “dragons”, it can be a good way to unwind from a stressful day at the office.

Fitness apps

Not only is it important to look after your mind, but exercising your body is also a great way to step away from everyday stress.

This app is a work-out app designed to help and motivate you to work-out each day, for just 7 minutes. Conveniently, it can prompt you at a set time every day to complete your workout. The app uses speech to act as your personal trainer and breaks each exercise into short bursts in a HIIT style. This a great app to help you exercise at home if you can’t make it to the gym.

If you are looking for a mental (or a physical) work-out, it is reassuring to know that there are plenty of different apps and technologies out there to assist. After all – it’s important to look after yourself, especially in #StressAwarenessMonth.
